TREATMENT OF EPIGASTRALGIA AND CHRONIC DIARRHEA WITH ECIWO THERAPY

Dr. Li Hongwei and Dr. Li Wanwei and Dr. Wang Anjing

From 1991to1994, we used the ECIWO therapy put forth by Chinese scientist Zhang Yingqing to treat 60 cases of epigastralgia and 40 cases of chronic diarrhea and obtained satisfying results.

1. General Data

Of the 100 patients, 62 were men and 38 women. The youngest was 18 and the oldest 65. Their longest course of illness was 15 years and the shortest a week.

2. Methods

According to Zhang Yingqing's division of the abdomen into 12 point zones, which all represent their correlated organs, we pressed one or two points correlated with the affected organs for 3-15 minutes each.

3. Criteria of Curative Effects

Recovery:The symptoms are gone and the patient is brought back to health.

Improvement:The clinical signs lessen significantly.

No Improvement:After a week of treatment the symptoms remain the same.

4.Results

Of the 100 patients 96 were cured and 4 failed to improved and switched to other treatments.

5.Typical Cases

Wang, a 32-year-old farmer, paid his first visit to our hospital on October 6, 1993. H had had paroxysmal distending epigastralgia for many years. He liked warmth, was intolerant of cold and often vomited watery fluid. When the pain relapsed, his limbs would get cold. We used ECIWO therapy by pressing his stomach point and all the symptoms were gone. To reinforce the curative effects, the treatment lasted a week and he was cured.

Hong, a 46-year-old woman, had bowel sound, abdominal pain and diarrhea. She had begun to loose her bowels 5-6 times a day half a year before. Her limbs, waist and knees were weak and she often had calf spasms. Her complaint was diagnosed as chronic enteritis. We used ECIWO therapy by pressing the correlated points. After being treated 3 times, she improved and after 6 days she was cured.

6.Discussion

The effectiveness rate of this kind of treatment was 96%. The therapy is convenient and economical and takes effect rapidly, so it is worth popularizing clinically.
